An administrator has a problem. They inadvertently set a group policy that disabled the option to saved sent items and would like to recover copies the messages that were sent during the short period of time the policy was in effect.
Unfortunately, its not possible to recover the sent items from Exchange server unless journaling was enabled or a transport rule that saved all sent messages was configured. You can use the tracking logs to determine how many messages are involved and who they were sent to, but once the messages leave Outlook, they can only be recovered from the SMTP server. As soon as they leave the SMTP server, the only copy is with the recipient. If users need a copy of the messages they sent, they will need to ask the recipients for a copy.
