A recent update to Office 365 changed the position of the unread (or total) message count in Outlook’s folder list from following the folder name to right justified.
I’m somewhat surprised at the number of people who complained about it. It really doesn’t look all that much different on my computer. I have long folder names and a fairly narrow folder list so the unread (or total) count position didn’t change much, but does look a little neater.
For those who don't like it, unfortunately, the position of the unread count is not a user option. If you’d like to see it changed you can vote for (and comment on) the suggestion at Outlook's Uservoice: Unread Email Count - Move it back!
