We're back...
EMO is back... after a long hiatus as we worked on restoring the mailing list server following a hard drive failure. We’d changed server passwords a few weeks earlier and forgot to check to make sure the database back up was working and the backups were copied to another drive. Oops.
As a welcome back, we're going to give away a subscription to Office 365 Home. All current subscribers will be entered in the drawing.
Consumer Groups in Outlook.com
Outlook.com users began noticing a new folder called “Groups” in Outlook.com on the web and wondered what it is. As Office 365 Business users know, this is an Office group, which are now supported on the Consumer side.
Outlook.com users can create groups and invite people to join the group. Once the group is created, members can share files and a calendar and send mail to the group. Members need a Microsoft account to access the groups.
Consumer Groups are accessible in Outlook.com on the web and on mobile devices. Consumer groups are not supported in Outlook desktop software.

Deleting Outlook Folders and Subfolders
Many users have discovered that it is really slow to delete folders in Outlook. You need to select the folder, click Delete, click Ok to the dialog asking if you really want to delete the folder then rinse and repeat for the next folder.
In older versions of Outlook you can speed it up a little by dragging the folders, either to the Deleted items folders or into a another folder you want to delete. You’ll only be asked to confirm the deletion when you delete that folder. Unfortunately, Outlook 2016 /2019 ask for confirmation with every folder move.
It's a lot faster if you use a macro or PowerShell. PowerShell is easier as you don’t need to change macro security settings, but a macro can work on the currently selected folder. So, I have both – a macro for those who need it and PowerShell scripts.
The PowerShell scripts delete subfolders of the Inbox (or subfolders of a specific folder) or all folders beginning with the same name, at the same level as the Inbox. The scripts also delete the folders from the deleted items folder.
The macro uses the selected folder as the parent folder, moving all subfolders to the deleted items folder. To delete the folders from the deleted items folder, you need to select the Deleted Items folder and run the macro on it.
When you use these scripts, you need to make sure you have the script configured to delete the correct folder, so they can be recovered if you don’t use the script that deletes the folders from the Deleted Items.

The New Outlook on the web
Microsoft began rolling out the “new” Outlook on the web interface to business users a few weeks ago. Everyone is getting 'upgraded' to the new interface but not everyone is happy with the new look.
There are URLs you can use to get back to the old classic interface. For the short term, this link will bring up the old interface:
Inbox in Office 365 Business accounts:
https://outlook.office365.com/owa/?path=/classic
Use this link to access the calendar: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/?path=/calendar/action/compose (click off the new event to show the calendar)
