Microsoft Outlook 8.04 is the final, version of Outlook 97. It's part of Microsoft
Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2) and is required to
make Outlook 97 Y2K-compliant. You should run the Office
97 Version Checker first, to see whether you need SR-2 and
whether your system is ready for it.

Obtaining SR-2
|
Office SR-2
is available both as a patch (download or CD) and as a full product
replacement CD. The patch can be installed only over Office SR-1. You
can install Office SR-2 from the full product CD without installing
Office SR-1 first, but only by removing Office first. If you want to
preserve user settings, using the patch is the best plan.
However, if you installed SR-1 using the patch, then
install SR-2 using the patch, you may be missing some
updates that affect Outlook users who connect to Microsoft
Exchange Server. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to
get exact details from Microsoft of what might be missing.
Therefore, if you installed the SR-1 patch and connect to
Exchange Server, we recommend that you get the full SR-2
update on CD. If you installed SR-1 using the Enterprise
Update CD, then it should be OK to use just the SR-2
patch.
To get Outlook 8.04:
Download the SR-2 patch and Office 97 Version Checker from
Microsoft's web site. If you have not upgraded to
SR-1, you will also need the SR-1
patch.
Order the full product update on CD from Microsoft by calling
the call the Microsoft Order Desk at (800) 370-9272 and ordering
the "Office 97 Service Release 2 Replacement CD."
If you are not using the U.S. English or International
English version of Office 97, check for International
Releases of SR-2 in your language. |
 |
|
Requirements
|
Windows
NT 3.51 users will need to apply Service Pack 5 before
installing Office SR-2. Windows NT 4.0 users will need
Service Pack 3.
And don't forget that, if you're installing the patch,
you must have Office SR-1 installed first. |
