When Out of Office is not working correctly, you may need to delete the Out of Office (OOF) rule from your mailbox. You can do this using MFCMAPI.

To Clear OOF Rule in the mailbox

You need to use an online profile. This will not work if you are using cached mode!

  1. Turn off OOF and close Outlook
  2. Use MFCMapi to log into the mailbox using Session > Logon menu then select your online profile. (Online Mode profile required)
  3. Select your mailbox name
  4. In the lower pane, look for PR_OOF_STATE in the Property Names (first) column. It's Value is True is Out of Office is enabled.
  5. When Out of Office is enabled the OOF property state is set to True

  6. Double click on your mailbox name.
  7. Expand Root Container, select Top of Information Store
  8. Right click Inbox folder and click Open Associated contents table
  9. Expand Root Container and Top of Information Store to find Inbox

  10. Delete following items if they exist:

Note: You need to scroll to the right to see the Message Class column. You can sort by this column to group all of the rules messages together.

Which version of Outlook are you using? Is it 32 or 64 bit?
