Using Windows Gadgets with Outlook

These gadgets are no longer available from Microsoft's Gadget Gallery. In a quick test, moving gadgets from one computer to another works (nothing is installed in the registry or elsewhere.) This means if you have a computer with a gadget installed, you can copy the gadget folder to other computers. The gadgets are at %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows

Moving from Outlook Express to Outlook

Step-by-step instruction to convert from Outlook Express on an older computer to Microsoft Outlook on a new computer with Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Outlook's Social Connector

The Social connector will be removed from Office 365 / 2019 in mid-2020. This will remove the People pane from Outlook. Much of the original Social connector is gone from Outlook: all of the "social providers" (Facebook, LinkedIn, SharePoint integration) were removed. In short, Outlook should run faster and

Printing the Monthly Calendar with Line Wrap & End Times

When printing a monthly calendar in Outlook 2007, the appointment subject lines don't wrap and the end times are not included in the printout. This is the result of an update. Uninstall the update to fix.

December 14 2010 (KB 2412171) update

Note: This update was re-released January 11, 2011 (still as KB 2412171). It's highly recommended that users install this one, even if they aren't experiencing problems with the December version of the update. The December 14, 2010 update (KB 2412171) which was automatically installed using Windows updates, causes a number of problems, including slowness switching

Protecting Outlook against Viruses

Viruses can involve current versions of Microsoft Outlook in only one way: A user open a virus-infected attachment received via an Outlook e-mail message. Because this is the most common way viruses spread, many system administrators block certain attachments at the server or use the Outlook Email Security Update to block such attachments at the
