Social Connector pane error: an add-in failed to run
A user received this error in the "people pane" in Outlook:
"An add-on for this website failed to run. Check the security settings in Internet Options for potential conflicts"
This error occurs because ActiveX is disabled in the Internet zone. You need to open Internet Options, then go to the Security tab. Select Internet Zone, Custom Level, scroll down to ActiveX Controls and plugins and enable the option for "Run ActiveX Controls and plug-ins". If Internet Explorer is locked down to prevent ActiveX controls from running, you won't be able to use the people pane.

Are there any known issues with social connector. I work in an exchange environment with 10,000 employees. Sometimes we have to disable the social connector because it causes all sorts of problems in outlook- freezing, cannot create calendars, restarting, banners missing....I think it is because it doesn't play nice with certain emails but when a person has 1000 emails, it is difficult to narrow it down to the correct one.
I'm not aware of any issues like you're experiencing but keep in mind that the social connector is deprecated and will likely be removed from the next version (after 2016).
Does outlook work better after it's disabled? Did you try disabling hardware acceleration? That will cause some of the errors you're experience (freezing, restarting).
