Removing Suggested Accounts in New Outlook
When you open the Add Account dialog in new Outlook, you may have a list of suggested email addresses to choose from. Unfortunately, there is not an easy way to remove the addresses from the list.
By deleting some files on your computer, you can remove some of the suggested accounts from the Add account list in new Outlook, but in my experience, it will not remove all of the accounts, especially if you have them in classic Outlook or are signed into other Office apps and OneDrive.
First, close new Outlook. If it is running when you do the following steps, the addresses won't be removed.
Next, you need to remove the accounts from Windows Settings > Accounts. Look under Email and under Work or School accounts. Remove or disconnect the accounts. Note: removing accounts here will sign you out of the account in Office and OneDrive.
After removing the accounts from Windows Settings, you need to delete the contents of this folder:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneAuth\blobs
Next, go to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneAuth\accounts. You’ll need to open each file in this folder in Notepad. Look for the email address for the account you want to remove. When you find a file with the address in it, delete the file.
Tip: open Notepad on one half of the screen, the folder on the other half. Drag the files to notepad to view.
Finally, delete all the files in this folder:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\IdentityCache
Restart new Outlook and check to see if the addresses were removed from the add account dialog.

More on Authentication Changes in Outlook.com
Microsoft has been sending emails to users warning them about the pending authentication changes coming to Outlook.com and a lot of the users have questions.
One I get a lot is “I only use outlook.com in a browser. How will this affect me?”
If you only use a supported OS and Outlook on the web, you will not have to do anything. Outlook.com will continue to work as has it in the past. Supported OSs include the last three versions of MacOS, and Windows 10 and 11. If you use a slightly older version of either OS, you should be OK. People still using really old computers or OS may find they cannot log in their Outlook.com account, even using a web browser.
No version of Outlook will be able to connect to Outlook.com as POP or IMAP. If you really want to use POP or IMAP, you will need to use a different client. Thunderbird and eM client support oAuth2 and are good options. The Gmail.com feature to “Check mail from other accounts” will not work as it does not use oAuth2.
Subscribers to Microsoft 365 will not have problems adding the account to Outlook as a Microsoft Exchange account; users with perpetual licenses need build 11601.10000 or higher. The article mentions only Outlook 2021, but retail versions of Outlook 2016 and higher should work as it is over build 11601.10000. We’ll find out for sure in September. Outlook 2016 MSI installs and older volume licenses will not connect.
Microsoft is removing the ability to create and use app passwords. If the mail client does not use oAuth2, you will not be able to connect it to outlook.com.
Outlook Name Changes
No, Microsoft is not changing the name of new Outlook to something less confusing, like new Mail, but they are officially changing the name of the original Outlook desktop software to Outlook Classic. This will begin to show in the desktop client as of version 2407. Office Insiders will get that version in August, with everyone else seeing the name change in September updates.
The new Outlook’s official name is Outlook for Windows.
Microsoft also announced that the new Outlook will be “generally available” on August 1, 2024, for business accounts. This allows businesses to use Microsoft support channels for any issues that might come up in the new Outlook. Users will not be forced to switch; it will continue to be opt-in for the foreseeable future.
