Using To-Do in New Outlook
A user switched to the new Outlook and wondered what happened to their To-Do list. They had tasks in the To-Do app but Tasks are not available in new Outlook’s My Day:
“My Microsoft account address is my Gmail address. When I sign into Outlook in the web with my Microsoft account, I can use To-Do and see the Tasks in My Day. I have the tasks on my phone too. But I don’t have them in the new Outlook? “
The To-Do list in My Day will only be available if you have an account added to new Outlook that has To-Do - which are Microsoft accounts with Outlook.com addresses (including Hotmail, Live, MSN, and personalized addresses in premium Outlook) or Microsoft 365 Work or School accounts.
Because your Microsoft address is Gmail, it’s added to Outlook as a Gmail account, not a Microsoft account. You can use the Gmail address to sign into To-Do in a browser (loaded by the blue checkmark in the vertical bar on the left side of Outlook), or the separate To-Do app, but it won't show in My Day in new Outlook because the Gmail account is connected to the Gmail servers, not the Microsoft account.
To view your To-Do’s in My Day, add an outlook.com alias to the account and use that to sign into new Outlook. That will pull your To-Do’s in My Day.
When you add Gmail, iCloud, or Yahoo accounts to new Outlook, you’ll have a calendar and contacts as these sync from your account’s mailbox.
Outlook.com Devices List
A user asked about the Mobile Devices list in Outlook.com settings, on the General page at https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/options/general/mobile.
He has one iPhone but several entries on the list for an iPhone and wondered if he could delete them.
Yes, the extras can be deleted. If you clear the entire list, you’ll be signed out on your device, but you can check the properties of the connection before deleting the entry to see if its an active connection. Note: If you have an entry for UniversalOutlook, that is the Windows Mail app (microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps).
1. Select an entry to display the Edit button (pencil icon). This will bring up the properties for that device, including the first and last sync.
2. If the last sync time is old, you can delete the entry.
He also wondered why the phone was not listed on his Microsoft account’s devices list in his Microsoft account.
Those devices are where Microsoft 365 software is installed, and only includes windows computers (including Windows tablets) but not mobile devices or MacOS. MacOS, iOS and Android devices will be on the devices list in Outlook.com settings.
Using Microsoft 365 business account in New Outlook
If you have a business account that does not include an Office subscription, such as Business Basic or Exchange Online Plan 1, you will not be able to add the account to new Outlook. You must have a software subscription for the mailbox in order to use it in new Outlook.
Users with Microsoft 365 mailboxes though GoDaddy and other Microsoft 365 resellers will not be able to use new Outlook if they don't have a software subscription linked to the mailbox.
Many users get these plans because of the cost, or for secondary mailboxes, because they only need one software license but need another licensed mailbox. Or they prefer a single purchase of Office 2019 or Office 2021, instead of a subscription. It matters: Microsoft is blocking them from using the new Outlook.

My last reminder: Personalized Outlook.com Addresses
This will be my last reminder that time is running out to add a custom domain to a premium Outlook.com account.
If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription and want to use a custom domain name in Outlook.com, you have 2 weeks left to set it up. After November 30, custom domains will not be available to add to Outlook.com but accounts with custom domain names set up will continue to work as long as the subscription is active.
As of December 1, 2023, users with personalized addresses will keep the address but cannot change the domain or the addresses.
If you want to use a personalized address, you need a Microsoft 365 subscription: Family, Personal, or Basic (100 GB OneDrive, Outlook Premium, and NO software). You need to keep the subscription; if you let it expire, you will lose the ability to use custom domains.
