A popular question on many forums goes something like this "Outlook isn't recognized by [application_name]. The error is that Outlook isn't my default mail program, but when I check the Default Programs, Microsoft Outlook is the default for everything.
We're seeing complaints about appointments moving
themselves to the Deleted Items folder on a
regular basis. "Appointments in my calendar
delete themselves every hour Outlook 2007 is
open. The appointments are from the last year or
so but in looking at the deleted appointments,
they are dated Jan 1, 1980."
This is caused by the Google sync tool. Search
your Google calendar for the appointments or
meeting invitations using the "Search my
Calendars" toolbar above Google calendar and
delete them. Empty your deleted items folder in
Outlook and then sync.
If that doesn't work (or if you have a lot of
appointments to delete) the following steps
should take care of it for you
Judging by the number of complaints in recent weeks about Copy: being added to the subject of copied meeting requests, it looks like a lot of companies are finally upgrading to Outlook 2007 SP2 or Outlook 2010.

Copy: is prefixed to the Subject of a Meeting
http://www.slipstick.com/calendar/copy.asp
In Outlook 2007 SP2 and Outlook 2010, Copy is prefixed to the subject of
meetings when they are copied within a calendar or to another calendar. This
"feature" can't be disabled but you can use VBA to remove Copy: from the
meetings using the VBA code on this page.
