Anti-phishing measure coming to Office 365 and Outlook.com
Coming soon to Office 365 and Outlook.com email accounts: changes in how the From address is validated to prevent phishing.
All messages must include a From address; messages without a From address will be considered spam and moved to the Junk mail folder or Deleted items, per the users junk email settings.
Administrators should note that this change can affect auto-replies. Administrators for Office 365 business and enterprise subscriptions will be able to override this change for inbound mail using IP allow lists or Mail flow rules, however, it cannot be overridden for outbound mail.
These changes will go into effect November 9 2017.
For more information see How Office 365 validates the From: address to prevent phishing (Office.com)
Unified inbox for multiple accounts
A popular request is for a unified inbox in Outlook 2016 for Windows, much like the unified inbox in the Outlook app. While you can use Instant Search to view messages from all accounts together, it’s not persistent and needs to be reset anytime you change folders.
For Instant Search, you’d use folder:Inbox received: (this week) and set the search scope to all mailboxes. See How to Create a Unified Inbox View for a macro to automate the process.
Turn off Paragraph marks in Inline Reply
Several users had a problem with paragraph marks showing in the inline reply pane:
How do I get rid of paragraph marks when replying in the Reading Pane? I can switch them on and off in a separate window and made the default for a new window with paragraph marks off but they still appear when replying in the Reading pane.
The message ribbon for Inline Reply doesn’t have the paragraph mark toggle, so you need to turn it off in the opened message form.
Pop the message out of the reading pane and press Ctrl+Shift+8 or click the paragraph icon button on the Format Text ribbon. Next, Close the message - do not send it! If you send the message, this change only applies to the current message, not globally to all new messages.
If the paragraph icon is not highlighted or Ctrl+Shift+8 doesn’t turn if off, you’ll need to turn it off in Options (from a popped-out compose message window). From compose message form, go to File, Options, Mail, Editor Options, Display then uncheck Paragraph marks. When you change the setting in this dialog, it automatically applies the changes globally.
Tip: The zoom settings in the compose message form are persistent if you adjust the zoom then close the message without sending it.
Reminder dialog buttons
While we’re complaining about Outlook features, another issue that generates complaints on a regular basis is the buttons on the reminder dialog.
I updated to Outlook 2016 (using Office 365). I do not see the "Open" button on the reminder dialog. I can right click to open an item, but no button. Where did the open button go?
They removed buttons to clean up and streamline the dialogs. In addition to right-clicking and choosing Open, you can just double click on the selected reminder to open it or press Enter if it is selected.
When you need to open multiple items, select them then press Enter. It’s not as obvious as an Open all button, but it works.
To complete a recurring task and regenerate the next task, don’t click the Dismiss button as this will dismiss the reminder; right-click and choose Mark complete.

Custom Form Security Changes
