Save Messages in New Outlook
After “upgrading” from Outlook 20xx/365 to the new Outlook app, a user could not drag messages from his mailbox to his desktop. When he tried, the cursor remained the “No” symbol.
This is considered “by design”, as it is a limitation of the Outlook app (and Outlook on the web).
To save messages to the desktop, as EML files, you need to view the message then click on the 3 dots to the right of the actions buttons (reply, forward, etc) on the message surface.
Choose Save from the menu to save the message as an *.EML in your downloads folder. You'll need to move the messages from downloads after saving them.
If you must have the file format saved as MSG, you will need to use Outlook desktop, not the new Outlook, as it can only save as EML.
EML is a universal file format used by many email apps. It can be opened in a browser window or Notepad if you don't have an email app installed. HTML messages are messy when open opened in Notepad, but if you don't have a browser available and need to read the message, it is an option.
If you save a lot of messages, you can add the save button to the message surface. Click on the three dots (again) and choose Customize Actions from the bottom of the menu.
In the Message surface group, add a checkmark to Save to show it on the message surface, to the left of the reply and forward buttons.

Block External Content in New Outlook
A user trying out the new Outlook wanted to know how to block all external content, just as he can in Outlook for Windows desktop.
Unfortunately, it is not possible with the new Outlook app. If you are using an Outlook.com mailbox, you can block external content from people not in your safe list or address book but cannot block all external content like you can in Outlook desktop.
To check or change the download settings, open Settings (from View tab or the gear icon in the upper right). Select Mail, then Junk email. Verify the account at the top of the page, then scroll to the end and select “Block attachments, pictures, and links from anyone not in my Safe senders and domains list”.
You cannot block external content in IMAP accounts.
Weather on Outlook calendar: Gone
Microsoft is removing the weather from the top of Outlook for Windows Calendar, beginning with Version 2311 Build 16929.15000, which will be available in November or early December in the current channel.
Weather will continue to be shown in Outlook on the web and new Outlook, where the weather is shown on the individual days, not at the top of the calendar. At this time, I do not believe this will sync to Outlook for Windows, but time will tell.
If you need weather in Outlook, weather sites, such as AccuWeather, have weather calendars you can subscribe to.
Tip: if you use Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 Work or School account, subscribe to calendars in Outlook on the web so they sync to all of your devices.
Outlook.com Personalized Addresses
If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription and want to use a custom domain name in Outlook.com, time is running out to set it up (or to buy a subscription to use it.) After November 30, custom domains will not be available to add to Outlook.com but accounts with custom domain names set up will continue to work as long as the subscription is valid.

Send Individual Messages when Sending Bulk Email
A very common question on forums and mailing lists is how to send email to many people without exposing all the addresses to all of the recipients. I have a distribution list with many contacts. When I send an email to the entire distribution list, I do not want everyone's email being in the TO:
