A user had a problem opening xml attachments they received by email.
Double clicking on the xml attachment in Outlook 2007 always returns an error: Access is denied. Error processing resource. file:///C:/path/filename.xsl. This file does exist in that path on the computer. I found a KB article #303487 that says to save the XML to the hard drive before opening, but we get a lot of xml attachments and that takes too long. Do you have any ideas?
Sure. Because Internet Explorer can't load .xml files from the Temporary Internet Files folder and Outlook uses the Temp Internet Files folder for attachments, you're prevented from opening the attachment. If you move the securetemp folder out of Temp Internet files, you won't be prevented from opening it.
Instructions to move the secure temp folder are at Outlook SecureTemp Files Folder

When I open outlook and it says invalid xml and outlook wont open. How do I fix this?
i'm guessing it is this error: https://www.slipstick.com/problems/cannot-start-outlook-error-message/ - try restarting outlook using the /resetnavpane switch. In the start search field or run dialog, type
outlook.exe /resetnavpane
and press enter.
