ReliefJet Essentials for Outlook is a set of more than 160 tools for performing a wide range of tasks in Outlook: processing email messages, contacts, appointments, meetings, tasks and other Outlook items.
Today's Highlights:
- New Outlook.com News folder
- Microsoft Office 356 Apps have "Very High" power usage
- Outlook won’t open: windows can’t find exe error message
New Outlook.com News folder
Microsoft rolled out an experimental feature to a very small subset of Outlook.com users called News. This adds a folder named News to the folder list in Outlook.com, which contains... news articles.
My account was not included in the experiment but from pictures I’ve seen, it looks very much like the MSN news page.
At this time, it cannot be disabled or removed, fortunately these experiments only last about 6 - 8 weeks so it will be gone soon. (Another lucky group usually replaces the previous group.)
Microsoft Office 356 Apps have "Very High" power usage
A number of users are complaining that the Office application are using high CPU power after installing recent updates (to version 2005). Safe mode also runs very high CPU.
Microsoft is investigating.
What we know: Users with metered connections are affected. If you are affected, either turn the metered connection off when you need to use the Office apps or disconnect from the internet while you use the apps.
Your other option is to roll back to an older build.
From Uninstall Updates in Office 'Click to Run':
- Right click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin). If you don't see Command Prompt on the menu, you'll need to type cmd on the Start screen to find the Command Prompt then right click on it and choose Run as Administrator
- Copy the following line:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe"/update user updatetoversion=16.0.12624.20588
- Right click in the command prompt window to paste it. This rolls back to the May 12 build.
I recommend checking for update once a day.
Outlook won’t open: Windows can’t find exe error message
Users are reporting problem opening Outlook and the other Office applications after this week’s update. The error message states the program exe is not found: Windows cannot find "c:\program files\microsoft office\root\office16\outlook.exe
This is caused by a bug in Avast antivirus. It was fixed in an automatic update. If you use Avast and still have the error, make sure you have the newest updates installed.
