I recently received a question about Outlook
2010's Group Schedules: "When I try to look at
schedules in Outlook 2010 it tells me "More than
30 calendars cannot be viewed at once" so is
there some other way I can set this up so that we
have the same functionality when we upgrade to
Outlook 2010? "
Sure, you can edit the registry allow more group
schedules (up to 100). You can do this using the
group policy templates or edit the registry
directly.
To edit the registry directly, open the registry
editor and browse to the follow key. If it does
not exist, you'll need to create it.
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar
If the DWORD CalendarMaximumNumber does not
exist, create it. Modify the value to a multiple
of 10, up to 100.
Earlier this week, Microsoft released hotfixes for both Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. The Outlook 2007 hotfix fixes word wrapping in calendar print outs which was broken by the July security update. Note that this update does not restore the end times to the print out, that is expected to be fixed in a future hotfix.
Other issues addressed by the August hotfix for Outlook 2007 include fixes for the following issues:
♦ When you receive a signed email message in
Outlook 2007 containing an encryption certificate
and add the sender to your Outlook contacts the
certificate is not added to the contact as
expected.
♦ When a mailbox is moved to Exchange 2010 and
you open an email message that contains an
attachment send by an external user and you try
to save the attachment, its not saved.
♦ You use a computer that is running Outlook 2007
to connect to a server that is running POP and
SMTP services with IPv4 and IPv6 services enabled
on the server and on the computer. When you click
Send / Receive in Outlook 2007, it reports that
it cannot connect to the server.
♦ When the reading pane is enabled in Outlook
2007 and you install an add-in, the original
email message of stubbed email messages cannot be
loaded.
♦ With Allow in-cell editing option enabled in
Outlook 2007, a memory leak occurs when you check
or uncheck a check box in the View pane.
♦ On a computer with the Regional Settings set to
Turkish and you press “i” on the keyboard to go
to the email messages that comes from senders
whose names starts with the letter “I”. Outlook
2007 goes to the first message from a sender
whose name starts with the letter ”J” or it stops
responding.
♦ When you use a VBA code to save email messages
when they are sent and enable the Request a Read
Receipt option and the Use Voting Buttons option,
Outlook 2007 cannot track the read receipt for
the sent email message in Sent Items and the
total vote results are not counted.
♦ When you try to open one of the embedded
messages that are attached to an email message,
the embedded message that is opened is not the
message that you selected.
♦ When you create a public folder calendar and
then you add this calendar to your favorite
folders in Outlook 2007 then switch to the
Calendar view, “in Public Folders” text is added
after the name of the public folder calendar.
♦ When you print a message, Outlook 2007 stops
responding.
♦ When you print a message that contains an
embedded image and other attachments, the
embedded image is opened unexpectedly.
♦ A hotfix is also available for the German MUI
for Outlook 2007. This fixes an issue where You
accept the meeting request and the information
bar in the accepted meeting request displays
incorrect text.

following error message: An unknown error
occurred, error code: 0x80070057
♦ With a COM Add-in that hosts a MAPI form and
Reply, or a ReplyAll, or a Forward causes Outlook
to crash.
♦ Adding new accounts where the domain name
begins with "live" results in an message to
download the Outlook Hotmail Connector.
♦ Outlook 2010 crashes when you perform a manual
update of Internet free/busy information.
♦ When recurring appointments or recurring
meetings are located in a public folder calendar
on Exchange Server 2003 and the recurring
appointment series or the recurring meeting
series are deleted when you try to delete one
instance of the recurring appointment.
♦ The reminder window in Outlook 2010 opens
constantly.
♦ When you configure the Specify path to Safe
Senders list policy for Outlook 2010 and the file
that you specified for this policy is located on
a network share, Outlook 2010 crashes shortly
after startup.
♦ You can disable the Export button that is
located in the Advanced tab in the Outlook
Options dialog box in Outlook 2010.
♦ When you use Outlook 2010 in online mode, the
folder list becomes unsorted frequently and the
location of the folders is changed randomly.
♦ Danish MUI users have a hotfix to address a
problem with an email message that does not get
sent after you press ALT+S.
♦ German users have a hotfix to fix the information bar, which displays wrong text when opening an accepted meeting.

Say No! to Compatibility Mode
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/compat_mode.htm
We're seeing problems caused by users running the Troubleshoot compatibility
utility which then sets Outlook to use compatibility mode. This results in
errors as Outlook is fully compatible with Windows 7. Bottom line: Do not
use the troubleshooter on Outlook and do not set compatibility mode.
Using Outlook 2010 with or without Word 2010 installed
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/using-outlook-2010-with-or-without-word-2010-installed-HA010356483.aspx
Although the Word-based e-mail editor built into Outlook 2010 does not
require that Word 2010 be installed, additional features and commands are
available when you install Word 2010 with Outlook 2010. This article
compares the features and commands available with or without Word 2010
installed.
Poll: Do you like Outlook 2010's handling of default accounts?
http://www.outlookforums.com/showthread.php?69015
We have a new poll at outlook forums: Outlook 2010 has a nifty new feature -
The lack of a true default account when there are multiple accounts
delivered to different pst files in the profile. Outlook uses the account
assigned to the pst the folder is in for new messages, not the default
account assigned in Account Settings. Some users complain about, at least
till they get used to it. (Registration not required to vote.)
Outlook & Office 2010 Click-to-Run Headaches
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2010/click-to-run.asp
The “Click to Run” version (C2R) is virtualized and can run side-by-side
with your current installation which makes it great for trials but there are
some limitations: Outlook 2010 C2R will not use add-ins and external
programs (including sync software)will not see Outlook C2R; for example,
mailto’s will not use Outlook 2010 because it is not registered as nor can
it be the default email client. You can switch between either version at any
time but cannot use both at the same time. While the limitations are
annoying for regular use, it’s workable for people who want to try Outlook
or need to support Outlook 2010 but aren’t ready to move to it for daily
use.
Should you install Office 2010 32- or 64-bit?
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2010/64bit.asp
The 32-bit version of Office 2010 is the recommended option for most users,
because it prevents potential compatibility issues with other 32-bit
applications, specifically third-party add-ins that are available only for
32-bit operating systems.
Determine when to install Outlook 2010
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179026.aspx
You can install Outlook 2010 before, during, or after an installation of
other applications in Office 2010. You can also deploy Outlook 2010 to
different groups of users at different times. Note that installing Outlook
2010 without Microsoft Word 2010 limits Outlook 2010 functionality in the
following ways: 1) The Outlook 2010 e-mail editor has fewer features, and 2)
Internet Fax functionality is not available. This article describes the
requirements, advantages, and disadvantages of each installation strategy.
