If you get an invalid page fault in module Outlrpc.dll, when you start Outlook, this probably means that you have an outdated or damaged Msvcrt40.dll file on your system.
Msvcrt40.dll is a Microsoft C Runtime Library file and is in your \Windows\System folder. The correct file is version 4.10.6038 with a size of 326,656 bytes and a date of 11/17/96.
Locate Msvcrt40.dll on your Office/Outlook CD and copy it to the \Windows\System folder.
Rename the Current File
You'll need to exit Windows and restart in MS-DOS mode to rename the files. To do this, follow these steps:
- Shut Down Windows.
- Select "Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode."
- Type "cd \System" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
- Type "ren Msvcrt40.dll Msvcrt40.old" (without quotation marks) and then press Enter to rename the file.
- Type "exit" (without the quotation marks) and then press Enter to restart Windows.
- Copy the Msvcrt40.dll file from your Office 97 or Outlook CD
