Sorry, this is a slow news week, in part because it's summer and everyone is on vacation. :)
Import PST into Outlook for Mac
A user complained that Outlook for Mac lacks import and export options. It is a fair criticism: the new Outlook for Mac still lacks these capabilities, which should have been available long ago.
Microsoft is improving the experience and added PST import to Outlook for Mac in June.
Support for importing and exporting OLM files is expected in September 2026, with pre-release users likely to see it in August.
You can check for updates on these features (and more) at Microsoft 365 Roadmap
Saving Messages in Outlook on the Web
A user wanted to know how to save messages from Outlook on the web. When he saved messages in new Outlook, he uses File > Save as and can choose between saving as EML or MSG format. Save as is also on the overflow menu (3 dots) in the message surface.
But he doesn't see Save as in Outlook on the web. This is because Outlook on the web doesn't call it “Save as”, they call it “Download”. While this sorta makes sense since it’s web mail and you are downloading it, you are still saving it.
In classic Outlook, Save is on the File tab and on the right-click menu.
Outlook Contact Lists Show 0 Members
This bug has been around for at least a year. I thought it was fixed last year but if so, it’s back again.
When you look at Contact List in Outlook on the web or new Outlook, the contact lists show the member count, but when you open the contact list to view it, there are 0 members.
The contact lists work and you can send using them, only the opened contact list is messed up. If you add the contact list to a message, you can expand it and view the members. (Click the + sign next to the list name in the To field to expand it.)
If you need to edit the contact list, you'll need to use classic Outlook.
Microsoft is aware of the issue, but no word on when it will be fixed.
