ReliefJet Essentials for Outlook is a set of more than 160 tools for performing a wide range of tasks in Outlook: processing email messages, contacts, appointments, meetings, tasks and other Outlook items.
Today's Highlights:
- Outlook Text Predictions
- Searching in Outlook
- Fixed: “The properties of the message have been changed”
Outlook Text Predictions
Outlook (both desktop and Online) support Text Predictions. As you are typing, Outlook tries to guess what you are going to write and tentatively adds it to the page – to keep it, press Tab. Just keep typing if you don’t want to accept the suggestion.
While I don’t find it too distracting, I often forget to tab and just keep typing. If you don’t like it, you can turn it off in File > Options > Mail. “Show text predictions while typing” is in the Compose messages section.
In Outlook on the web, “Text Predictions” is in Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Compose and reply.
Outlook also will suggest replies, in the form of 3 suggestions under the subject. Choose one instead of hitting Reply and it opens the reply and adds the phrase to the message. Add more to your message then hit send, It’s generally good at making suggestions such as “Thanks for letting me know.”
You can turn Suggested Replies off in File > Options > Mail. “Show suggested replies” is in the Replies and Forwards section. In Outlook on the web, “Show suggested replies” is in Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Compose and reply.
Searching in Outlook
I see a lot of complaints from users unhappy with changes to Search.
The search field is in the title bar, which is an inch or two more mouse movement. Workaround: use Ctrl+E to jump into it.
The search parameter buttons are missing or covered up by the menu that pops out when you click in the Search field. Solution: click the V on the right of the search field to show a form with the fields. Or learn the search parameters for your most used searches and just type it in.
The new search uses natural language. While "received:1/1/2021..6/1/2021" (no quotes) still works, if you want to see mail received last week, type “received
last week” (without the quotes). "Received last month", "received yesterday", and "received last weekend" work too, but "received Tuesday" does not.
See Natural language search in Outlook - Office Support (microsoft.com) for more examples.
Fixed: “The properties of the message have been changed”
This bug, which triggered an annoying prompt stating “The properties of the message <subject> have been changed. Do you want to save changes?” when closing an HTML message containing an attachment they replied to (or forwarded), is fixed in Current Channel Version 2105 Build 14026.20308..
If you still have the error message, check for updates and restart Outlook.
