ReliefJet Essentials for Outlook is a set of more than 160 tools for performing a wide range of tasks in Outlook: processing email messages, contacts, appointments, meetings, tasks and other Outlook items.
Today's Highlights:
- Outlook on the web: Conversation View
- Create Events from Email in Outlook on the web
- Show deferred time in the Outbox
Outlook on the web: Conversation View
An Outlook on the web user wanted to know how to automatically BCC all messages she sends to herself.
Unlike Outlook desktop software, Outlook on the web does not have an ‘after sending’ rule nor an option to automatically BCC yourself, like many smartphone mail apps do.
If you are BCCing yourself to view all messages in a thread together in the Inbox, you don’t need to use BCC, you just need to change your view. The Group by Conversation view will display all messages in a thread together, including messages from the Sent folder. It will also thread the messages in the reading pane. You have the option of sorting the messages in the thread with the newest message at the top or bottom.
To turn on group by conversation, open Outlook on the web’s settings: Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Layout. Look for ‘Show email grouped by conversation’ under Message organization section. Choose whether to sort the threads with the newest messages on top or on the bottom and if you want to include deleted items in the conversation.
Create Events from Email in Outlook on the web
In a second Outlook on the web question, a user wanted to be able to create events from email that are not detected as events by the events from email feature.
This is as easy in Outlook on the web as it is in Outlook desktop: just drag it to the calendar. While you can drag it to the Calendar navigation button on the desktop version, in Outlook on the web you need to show the My Day panel and drag the message to the panel.
Click the task icon that is next to the gear icon on the right to display the My Day panel. When you drag a message to the panel, two areas highlight, drag the message to one to create a task, the other to create an appointment containing the message.
Show deferred time in the Outbox
Outlook has the ability to defer email, sending them at a later time and date. A user requested the ability to see the time the message will be sent.
Not a problem. Customize the view of the Outbox to include the Defer Until field. To do this, open the Outbox and right click on the row of field names. Choose Field Chooser then select Date/time fields from the dropdown. Drag Defer Until to the row of field names.
The user also asked if it is possible to defer mail without going to the Options tab.
Sure. You can click on the expander in the lower right corner of the Tags group on the Message ribbon to display the Properties dialog or customize the ribbon or to add the Delay Delivery command to the ribbon, or to the Quick Access toolbar.
