Search Broken in Outlook 2016 POP Accounts
Outlook users are discovering that after updating to builds 7870.2020 and higher, search stops working for POP accounts and PST files.
Until this is fixed in a future build, it is recommended that affected users revert to build 16.0.7571.2109.
To revert to the previous working version follow these steps:
- Close Outlook.
- Open a command prompt using Run as Administrator and run this command:
cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun - Then this one:
officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.7571.2109 - Re-open Outlook and click File, Office Account and set Update Options to Disable Updates
- Add an appointment on your calendar for a month or more out to remind you to re-enable updates.

Translator for Outlook Add-in
Translator for Outlook add-in is available to all Office 365 and Outlook.com users. If you regularly receive messages in language with which you’re not fluent or want to read emails in your native language, Translator add-in will translate the message on the fly. Simply click the Translate Message button in the ribbon and Translator will translate it to your computer's default language setting or choose a different language.
When this addin is installed in your Office 365 or Outlook.com account, it will be available in the supported Outlook clients: Outlook 2016, Outlook 2016 for Mac, Outlook on the web, Outlook.com, Outlook for iOS, and is coming soon to Outlook for Android. (Tip: If Add-ins aren't showing in Outlook for iOS Settings and you have the latest updates installed, delete all accounts and add them back, beginning with your Office 365 and Outlook.com accounts.)
Install it from the Office store. Or click Get More add-ins in Outlook then type Translator in the search field. Slide the switch to On for Translator for Outlook and install. Within a couple of minutes, it will be available on the ribbon in Outlook desktop.
Shared Calendars on Smartphones
Shared calendars are coming to the Outlook app on iOS and Android. Outlook.com users should have their shared calendars on their phones now, Office 365 subscribers will be seeing their shared calendars in the coming weeks.

Deprecation of RPC over HTTP in Office 365 (and Outlook.com)
As of October 31 2017, Outlook 2007 will no longer work as an Exchange client with Office 365 and Outlook.com as RPC over HTTPS will no longer be supported. Outlook clients on Windows will only be able to connect to Office 365 servers using MAPI over HTTPS protocol. Outlook 2007 users will need to upgrade, use Outlook on the web, or switch to IMAP (which is email only, no calendar & contacts sync).
