Problem: Microsoft Outlook won't start minimized

You can start any version of Outlook minimized by changing the properties on the shortcut you use to start Outlook. However, if Outlook is set to full screen it may not start minimized.

Under Windows 95, the Outlook 97 Rules Wizard breaks the ability of Microsoft Outlook to start minimized, based on the setting in the shortcut used to start Outlook. Use utilities that can minimize Outlook not to a button on the task bar, but to an icon in the system tray.

The tools on this page can be used with any version of Outlook to minimize it to the tray or notification area.

Note: Outlook 2003 and 2007 have options to minimize Outlook to the notification area. Right click on the tray icon and choose "Minimize to tray" to enable (or disable) the feature.
