Open Multiple Messages in Tabs
A user wanted to know when Microsoft would add tabbed browsing to Outlook, “like we now have in Notepad”.
While tabbed messages are unlikely to ever make it into classic Outlook, it is possible now in new Outlook and Outlook on the web.
Composing messages are tabbed at the bottom of the reading pane and you can open incoming messages in tabs. Clicking on a message displays it in the reading pane, replacing the message that is already there. If you want to open the message in a new tab, right click on the message and choose View (at the bottom of the menu) then select Open in new tab.
If you want to open multiple messages at once, select them and right click View > Open in new tab.
Remove Outlook Permissions from Google Accounts
If you previously allowed Outlook access to your Google account (or any other email app) and want to revoke access, you need to log into your Google Security Settings then click on Third-party apps & services near the bottom of the page. Select Microsoft apps & services then click on “Delete all connections you have with Microsoft apps & services” to remove app permissions. Repeat for any other apps listed that you no longer use.
This link should take you to the right page: https://myaccount.google.com/connections
If you want to add your Google account to Outlook or other apps, you are required to allow access to Google accounts. If you don't want to allow this or want to use POP, you need to enable 2-step verification and use an app password to sign in.
Error Opening iCloud Appointments in Classic Outlook
Users are reporting an error message when they try to open iCloud appointments synced to classic Outlook.
The error message:
To help prevent malicious code from running, one or more objects in this form were not loaded.
This is an ActiveX error. You can fix it by changing the ActiveX settings in Word’s Trust Center.
In Word, open File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > ActiveX Settings. You’ll need to select “Enable all controls without restrictions and without prompting (not recommended; potentially dangerous controls can run) controls”. Also enable “Safe mode (helps limit the control’s access to your computer)”.
Edit Contact Button Not Working in Classic Outlook
When you view the full size contact card in classic Outlook, either in the People view or double clicking on an address in an an email message, you can click on the three dots and choose Edit Contact. This is not working as version 2507.
The Edit Contact option is only broken in the full-size contact card. If you are using the People view in contacts, double click on the contact to open it for editing. You can also right click on the contact and choose Edit contact. When opening the contact from an email message, right click on the address and choose Edit Contact or click the three dots in the mini contact card and choose Edit Outlook Contact.
If you routinely use the full size contact card, Microsoft fixed it in version 2508, which is available now for users in Beta Channel or Current Channel Preview. Current channel users will get this fix in the August updates at the end of the month.
