Remove the Get Outlook mobile app offer in Outlook
Microsoft Outlook 2016, 2019, 365, and Outlook on the web display an (annoying) option to set up the Outlook mobile app for your phone. Most people see the checkbox after they add an account to Outlook or as a banner under the ribbon but it may show in the Drafts folder and on the File > Account Settings page. The banner should disappear when clicking the X on the right but a few users say it comes back.
It's annoying, especially if you are already using the app.
Individual users can remove all the 'get mobile app' notifications in Outlook by adding DisableOutlookMobileHyperlink to the registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
DWORD: DisableOutlookMobileHyperlink
Value: 1
To make this change, type regedit on the start and open the Registry Editor when it comes up.
1. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
2. Right click on General and choose New > DWORD.
3. Type (or paste) DisableOutlookMobileHyperlink as the name for newly created DWORD.
4. Right click on DisableOutlookMobileHyperlink and choose Modify. Change the value from 0 to 1.
5. Close the registry editor and restart Outlook.
Administrators can use the group policy editor to block it or edit the registry directly. The administrative path is at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
DWORD: DisableOutlookMobileHyperlink
Value: 1
If the Office administrative templates are installed, it can be disabled using GPO.
1. Open the Group Policy Editor and browse to User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Outlook 2016 > Outlook Options > Other
2. Double click on Disable Outlook Mobile Hyperlink and select Enabled.
3. Restart Outlook for the key to take effect.
Administrators can remove the Get Outlook mobile banner from Outlook on the web using Exchange Online PowerShell using this cmdlet:
Set-OrganizationConfig -MobileAppEducationEnabled $false
Outlook.com users cannot disable the message in Outlook on the web, but X’ing the banner should remove it, at least until you clear the browser cache and cookies.
Fixed: Outlook Search Problems
An update for Windows 11 that fixes the search problems that plagued Outlook is now available. To install, open Settings > Windows Update select “2022-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5011563) “.
For a complete list of all the issues fixed by this update, see March 28, 2022—KB5011563 (OS Build 22000.593) Preview
My Day in Outlook on the web
Outlook on the web can display a to-do bar – it's called My Day and displays your calendar and tasks. Show or hide it by clicking on the My Day icon in the menu bar.
My Day has tabs for Calendar or Tasks. You can choose an Agenda or Day view for the Calendar, and show a full month thumbnail or just one week.
A user had a problem: “It only shows something when I have a meeting scheduled and isn’t showing the whole calendar month. I tried accessing it from several computers and browsers and its always the same.”
The user was using the Day view, which shows events for the selected day and had the one week calendar enabled. It’s not a browser setting, but an Outlook on the web setting, so every computer will have the same view.
To switch between Day view and the Agenda view (shows a list of upcoming appointments), click the three dots on the right and choose the other view.
To switch between one week and one month navigation calendars, click on the month name at the top left of the small calendar. This will toggle between one week and one month.
Scroll between time periods using the chevrons on the left and right side of the calendar.
To add email messages to My Day as tasks or appointments, drag the message to the My Day panel and drop it on the Add as a Task or Add as Event box.
Task Pane in Outlook on Mac
The New Outlook on Mac’s Task Pane is similar to My Day in Outlook on the web but shows only the calendar, not tasks. While you can switch between the Agenda and Day view by clicking the 3 dots in upper right of the Task Pane, the default is set in Outlook Preferences > My Day (or click Settings at the bottom of the menu.)
To switch between two weeks and one month, click the chevron icon under the last week in the calendar.
The Outlook on Mac version has something Outlook for Windows doesn't yet have: to ability to show appointments from more than one calendar in the Task pane. Choose the calendars in Outlook Preferences > My Day.
You won't be able to drag email to the task pane in Outlook on Mac, but can right click on messages and choose Create > Appointment or Meeting.
Fixed: Outlook.com’s Sync Email Settings
Finally. After months of errors on the Sync Email page in Outlook.com’s Settings, Microsoft finally fixed. Users can one again edit connected accounts, enable or disable POP, and verify the correct server settings to use for POP, IMAP, or SMTP.
