Export Autocomplete list in New Outlook or Outlook on the web

A user wanted to know if they could get a copy of the addresses on their autocomplete list in Outlook on the web.

Yes! You can export it from new Outlook for Windows too, for any account type, not just outlook.com or Microsoft 365 business accounts.

To export a CSV of your autocomplete list, go to View tab > View settings > General > Privacy and Data.

If you are in new Outlook and have more than one account added to the app, select the account name at the top then click the link to “Download my expanded people data”.

A CSV file will be created and downloaded.

You can clear the autocomplete list from this settings page also. Click “Clear data and turn off” button. Please note, it can take 48 hours to clear the list; if you want to turn it back on, you need to wait at least 48 hours before turning it back on.

If you are using classic Outlook, you can clear the autocomplete list in File > Options> Mail. Scroll down close to the end to find the “Empty Auto-Complete List” button.

If you only want to remove specific entry, select the address when it comes up on the list with other suggestions then click Delete. This works in new Outlook (Windows and Mac), classic Outlook, and Outlook on the web.

Mail Merge in New Outlook

Currently you can do a simple mail merge in new Outlook.

It’s simple to use: add all of the addresses you are sending to, to the To or CC field and compose your message. When you are ready to send, expand the Send button menu and choose "Start mail merge". The message will be sent individually to each person in the address fields.

Early next year (2026), Advanced mail merge will roll out. This will allow users to personalize the messages for each recipient. While specifics are not available, it should include the ability to insert names. I’m hoping any contact field can be used to personalize the messages.

One thing I’m not expecting is the ability to use a data source, such as an Excel CSV, for the merge. If you need to use a data source, you’ll need to use classic Outlook and Word.

Edge Error: You don't have permission to access [domain] on this server.

While not an Outlook issue, it is annoying and googling for a solution found a bunch of useless suggestions. While it doesn't seem to be a common problem, I know I’m not the only person suffering with this error. If you have the same problem, you can easily fix it.

The problem: When I’d try to look at items at homedepot.com, lowes.com, or Costco.com, I’d get an access denied error. I also got the same error going to godaddy.com home page.

This was the error message, with the reference number changing every time:

Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://www.[domain name].com/" on this server.
Reference #18.[long code]
https://errors.edgesuite.net/18.[long code]

Edgesuite.net is a CDN (content delivery network) owned by Akamai. It’s used by a lot of large websites, more than just the four I use.

I could get to the sites using Chrome or Firefox, so I knew it wasn’t my router, firewall, IP address, or many of the other solutions I found on the internet. It had to be something in Edge. I cleared my browser cache and cookies, flushed DNS cache, turned all browser security and cookies settings off. Nothing helped. I even checked my IP reputation at Client IP Reputation Lookup  just to be sure and it was not on Akamai’s “bad” list.

I finally found a hint in an old thread transferred to the Microsoft Q&A forums from Microsoft Answers Community. The person there gave this advice:

If you disable PQKA, everything now loads.
edge:flags
search "TLS"
Look for "1.3 Post-Quantum Key Agreement" and disable.

I didn’t have an entry for “1.3 Post-Quantum Key Agreement” in edge://flags/ but had one entry mentioning TLS when I searched: “TLS 1.3 Early Data”. It was set to Default and I changed it to Disabled.

The web sites load now. (I’m a moderator at Q&A and marked that comment as “Recommended” so future searchers might find it faster than I did.)

New Outlook is Not Being Replaced

Over the last couple of weeks several tech news sites published articles that said new Outlook was being replaced with a newer Outlook AI version.

It is not true that new Outlook is being replaced. Yes, Microsoft is building more AI into new Outlook (in most cases, you need to pay for an AI subscription to benefit) but they have not stopped development of, or are replacing, new Outlook.

New Outlook is still under development and will remain so, with new features dropping every month. Some of the new features will involve AI.

New Outlook may or may not get a “refreshed” interface in the next year or so. I’m not expecting anything like we’ve seen with classic Outlook over the years, in part because they are making small interface updates each month. Like the File tab in new Outlook and the updated icon.
