Active Directory Management Tools - User Updates

The Active Directory is supposed to make it easy to control users and groups, but managing it can be difficult. The tools found on this page are for end users to update their own records.

Administrator tools are located at  Active Directory Management Tools

Tools

Account Central   Account Central allows secretaries, supervisors or other authorized personnel, without administration privileges or the Exchange admin password, to update certain portions of the Microsoft Exchange directory records.
Active Directory UserMod Assistant   ADUM Assistant is a simple tool that allows standard Active Directory users the ability to manage their personal information in the directory and the GAL. The goal is to eventually migrate to VB.NET and offer more advanced features for admins.Beta. Version 0.9
activeImport   activeImport will automatically keep your Active Directory user information up-to-date including Telephone Numbers, Departmental Information, Company Information, Addresses, and more. Use all employee information in your existing databases in Active Directory and view this directly in Outlook.
Directory Assistant   Directory Assistant allows users to modify their directory information. To facilitate ease of setup, the existing "mailbox template" is used as the foundation for customizing Directory Assistant. Directory Assistant can be also configured differently for specific groups of users - enabling system administrators to provide variable levels of authority or approval for changes. Automate the updating by setting up reminders to ensure clients update their information at regular intervals. Clients can update their information using their web browser.
Directory Manager   Directory Manager is a web-based application that allows a designated user to update other user's information in Active Directory through a easy to use interface.
Directory Update   Directory Update is a web-based application written in ASP.NET and C# that allows users to update their attributes in the Active Directory rather than relying on the GALMOD utility from Microsoft. Administrators can provide validated drop-down lists for some of the fields (such as City, State, Department, Country) to reduce possible data entry errors. The administrator can also restrict which fields a user is allowed to update and which they cannot.
ExMS User Profile Manager   ExMS User Profile Manager (UPM) allows individuals to view and update specific account attributes in Windows, Exchange, and Active Directory account profiles without providing sensitive administrative rights. The proprietary Dynamic Administrative Roles Technology (DART) provides each user with enough limited access needed to perform specific administrative tasks.
IMI GAL Modify   IMI GAL Modify is a small utility for Exchange Admin to modify the Mailbox attributes on MS Exchange Server 5.5. Works on MS Windows 95/98/Me, allowing the admin to modify the mailboxes from a desktop machine.
IMI Mailbox Web Console   Create, modify and delete Mailboxes, Distribution Lists and Custom recipients from any web browser.
Password Control/Bulk Password Control/Bulk Modify   For helpdesk staff its a simple interface for resetting AD passwords, disabling, enabling and unlocking accounts. For system admins, its a bulk password reset tool. Bulk Modify tool to change attribute values for many user accounts.
PeopleUpdate   PeopleUpdate provides a web-based search and update interface for Microsoft Active Directory environments. PeopleUpdate allows for search, export, and update functionality from a web-based interface. PeopleUpdate allows for drop-down lists and input masks for controlling data being updated. Version 3.
Profiler   Profiler gives the typical end user the ability to update their directory information (telephone number, office location etc) using their browser. Supports password management. Reset Passwords with security questions. Updating membership of Groups and Distribution lists are supported. Because the software is web based, deploying the solution is as easy as giving your users the correct URL or adding a link to your intranet. Supports Exchange 5.5/2000/2003/2007 and OpenLDAP, LDAP v3 (including SSL) for directory updates. Automatic discovery of GC & DC servers for faster configuration. Version 5.
WebDIR   Imanami's Web-Based Directory Management application enables users to update their own directory information, change their own password as well as create, delete and manage groups - all - through any Web browser and end users can opt-into or opt-out of groups with out any time being required from an administrator. Administrators gain access to administrative tasks via any browser and do not have to rely on being in a designated location to administer password resets, groups changes and directory attributes. Now supports Windows Live to map addresses. A free 30-day evaluation is available. Version 4
