Outlook Addins Crash with MAPIinitialize
Following an Office 365 update last week, Outlook had a bug where MAPI failed to initialize. This prevented Outlook COM addins from working.
Microsoft fixed the issue in an update to Outlook on April 30, in version 12730.20236 for Insider Slow and Monthly channel. The fix for Insider Fast is a few days out.
To check for the update go to File > Office Account and click Update Now.
Attachment icon but no attachment?
A user had a question:
The attachment icon sometimes displays when there is no attachments. And some emails have an attachment but the icon is missing. I’m using an IMAP account, if that matters.
The account type can have an effect with older versions of Outlook, where the header on IMAP mail is downloaded before the body, but has less effect with current versions of Outlook.
Do the messages have signatures containing images, or an image in the message body? Outlook will display the attachment icon for embedded images until the message is rendered, because the embedded image is an attachment. Most of the time, it happens fairly quickly and you don’t notice the paperclip icon. Other times, its on the slow side and you’ll see the paper clip icon for a few seconds.

April 2020 Office 365 Update - Add-Ons fail after Office 365 Update
Starting April 22 2020, CompanionLink found some people reporting that the Outlook Add-On was not working. The culprit is a dependency error with MAPI - which is one of the oldest API's in Outlook. CompanionLink issued a simple fix.
