The question came from an Outlook user:
We want to use a "Have server reply rule" to send an automated reply to people who send us a message using our web form. When the rule runs, Outlook is replying to the From address (our web server), not the Reply to address (the person who filled out the form). What are we doing wrong?
You're not doing anything wrong. Outlook rules always reply to the From address, not the Reply to address. It's a long standing issue and you can't change it in Outlook. You could use a macro, but that will make a client-side rule, which only runs when Outlook is open. The best solution is to configure the web form so the messages are sent From the person who filled out the form.
You can use a run a script rule to get the reply to address from the message. See Run a script rule: Autoreply using a template (slipstick.com) for the macro and instructions.
I need to respond to messages coming from a web form and don't control the web form. Have copied your macro from https://www.slipstick.com/developer/run-a-script-rule-autoreply-using-a-template/, to run from a rule, but don't know how to specify the reply-to address in lieu of SenderEmailAddress. Would appreciate a pointer. Thanks
Try using Item.ReplyRecipientNames to get the reply to address.
oRespond.Recipients.Add Item.ReplyRecipientNames
