You can update Microsoft Outlook 2000 by applying Office 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP-2). Microsoft characterizes this update as "particularly useful to corporate customers." It contains many hotfixes for Exchange Server users, plus the Outlook E-mail Security Update, the CDO security update and several security patches for other Office programs. SP-2 contains no new features.
Caution: Be sure you understand the implications of the Outlook E-mail Security Update before installing SP-2. Installing SP-2 will make certain file attachments inaccessible and will change the behavior of many Outlook add-ins.
Other important points:
- You must install Office 2000 SR-1/1a before installing SP-2.
- If you installed Outlook or Office 2000 from CD, you must have access to your Office 2000 or Outlook 2000 CD (whichever you installed) when you install SP-2. See OFF2000: Why Office 2000 SR-1 Update Requires the Office CDs for a detailed explanation that also applies to SP-2.
- If you installed Outlook or Office 2000 from a network installation point, do not apply SP-2 unless your administrator tells you to do so. The administrator will need to apply a special version of SP-2 to update the network installation.
- If you access an Exchange Server mailbox with both Outlook 2000 and Outlook for Macintosh and need to manage rules from both, Microsoft recommends that you not install SP-2.

Notes
After you install SP-2, Help | About Microsoft Outlook will show the version as Outlook 2000 SR-1, but give the version number as 9.0.0.4527.
SP-2 cannot be removed.
We have seen some instructions on installing SP2 without the Outlook Email Security Update components by downloading the administrative version of SP2, unpacking its contents and installing only some of the .msp files. We cannot recommend this approach because it would leave Office in a mixed state. Some parts of Outlook would be upgraded to SP2, while the main parts would still be at SR1/1a. The results would be unpredictable, aside from the fact that you'd be missing the bulk of the Outlook fixes detailed above.

Where can I download Office 2000 SP2 and then SP3 - a number of the MS links fail?
Yeah, i saw they removed it from the downloads - not surprising due to it's age and honestly, it is very insecure. A newer version or a different client would be better (eM client is free for up to 2 accounts). I'll see if i can find a copy somewhere.
