This error often caused by add-ins installed by Norton security products, but if you have an Acer computer, the eDataSecurity add-in for Outlook may be the cause. Note that these two applications are the most well-known cause but other applications may cause it as well.
Unloading the offending add-in will usually fix it, if not you'll need to uninstall the application.
Outlook 2010 and 2013 users will go to File, Options, Addins, while Outlook 2007 users will look in Tools, Trust Center, Add-ins. In Outlook 2003, go to Tools, Options, Other tab, Add-ins, locate the offending add-in and disable it.
If the offending addin is not listed, you'll need to edit the registry.
- Open the registry editor (Start menu, Run, type regedit)
- Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
- Locate the suspected add-in in the list
- Set the LoadBehavior to 0
More Information
In most cases, disabling the application's integration won't affect your usage of Outlook and often makes it run smoother, but if you need Outlook integration, check the vendor for updated versions. Note that you do not need Antivirus scanning of your email - Outlook's security blocks active content and all attachments are written to the hard drive prior to opening so they can be scanned by the autoprotect feature of antivirus software.
I believe I installed iTunes 11.1.4 about 2 weeks ago and it is the bad version. I need to delete it and other Apple programs and then reinstall itune, but I think I have to do it in a certain order.
See https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 for the apple recommended steps.
I have this issue with MSVCR80.dll. It appears to be interfering with a number of programs, including Outlook Hotmail Connector. If I uninstall iTunes will I lose my music library?
No, you shouldn't lose the library - the data isn't deleted, only the program is removed. What version do you have? The latest is iTunes 11.1.4, but I'm not sure if that is the bad version or an updated version.
I don't believe I did, it appeared to come straight after I got rid of McAffe!!!
I am also receiving MobileMe Services has stopped working when opening Outlook. I have followed your post of 04/20-2011 for this fix yet are receiving "This add-in is installed for all users on this computer amd can only be connected or disconnedted by an administrator" I'm not sure if I am an administrator of what to do here?
Thanks, Mark
MobileMe not working is another symptom of the bad iTunes update.
To get rid of the install error, right click on the outlook shortcut and choose Run as Administrator.

Hi
I am running 2007 and have recently received the message MSVCR80.dll on startup after eliminating McAfee (I have Norton and they may have been competing!)
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Mark
Did you update iTunes right before the problem started? If disabling the Apple addins doesn't end the error, you'll need to uninstall iTunes and install an older version.
