The Office 2010 beta is available for download by the general public. I highly recommend users do not install it on their “production” system. If you choose ignore this advice, install the 32-bit version, especially if you use add-ins or sync with devices. Existing add-ins will not work with the 64-bit version. There is a good chance they will work with the 32-bit build. See Outlook 2010 64-bit for more information.
In addition to the standard installation, available here, there is a "click to run" version. This runs in a virtual space and will allow you to use Office 2010 side by side with and versions. You will not be able to run both Outlook's at the same time, but it will allow you to try the beta without messing up your existing installation. This is a better option to the full installation file when you have only one computer. It's available in 32-bit only. Download Click to Run (C2R)
Fix for Options, Advanced, Prompt for confirmation before deleting bug that doesn't let you turn the warning off is here.
For best results, uninstall your current version of Outlook and make a
backup copy of any PST in your profile. The old profile should work
ok, but you should consider making a new one.
If you use the Outlook Connector uninstall it before installing it
beta. Outlook will offer to download the new connector for you. If
not, make a new profile and add the Hotmail/Live account to it. This
should bring up the offer to download the new connector. Once
installed, it will work with the account in the old profile.
Tip: Look on the File tab for Options and Account settings.

Outlook 2010 64-bit or 32-bit?
Should you install the 64-bit version of Office 2010? At this time, most people should stick with the 32-bit version of Office 2010 especially anyone who needs add-ins or who wants to sync with most smartphones.
Microsoft has stated publicly that there are no performance benefits in 64-bit Office 2010. With this release of Office there are very few benefits to 64-bits and many disadvantages - specifically in that few add-ins or utilities that access Outlook data will work. This includes most Sync tools for Smartphone's and PDAs.
The only major performance boost with 64-bit Office applications is in the amount of memory that is available. In the 64-bit applications you can have file sizes greater than 2GB, which may be beneficial in Access, Excel, Project, etc. If you don't anticipate a need for file sizes that large, its recommended that you use 32-bit Office, even on a 64-bit OS, because of add-in compatibility. There is no substantial performance gain (faster run time) with 64-bit version of Office.

When you use Outlook 2010’s dual time zone feature and one time zone uses DST and the other does not, when you swap zones the Use DST checkbox in Window’s Date and Time applet may be unchecked when the time zone that uses DST is active. Because Outlook 2010 doesn’t display the Use DST checkbox, you won’t know this unless you happen to notice the computer’s time is off an hour.

Registry key for Social Connector Beta
Currently, the social connector only works in one profile. If you use multiple profiles and need to connect it to a different profile, browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\ and select the profile key you want to use the social connector with.
