A client said my bulk change contacts macro wasn’t working with his Exchange account after he made a change or two. The changes he made looked good so I brought up a virtual machine running Outlook 2013 to test it. The profile that was open had an outlook.com account and because all ‘exchange’ accounts are created equal (right?), I planned to test it on that profile.
I added a contact to the mailbox and within a few seconds, the company name disappeared. I created another contact and the company name disappeared. Unfortunately, I needed the company name to test the change the client made, so I opened another virtual machine, this time running Outlook 2016. The company name disappeared there too.
This bug affects only Outlook.com accounts on the new servers and only when the company name is added at the time the contact is created. Adding a company name to an existing contact works fine and the contact name is not removed. I was unable to repro it using my Office 365 account.
