WordMail -- the use of Microsoft Word as the editor in
Microsoft Outlook -- ignores the font settings in Tools | Options |
Mail Format in Outlook. Instead, it has its own method for setting
fonts.

Outlook 2000 with Word 2000
|
- Start a new message with WordMail.
- Choose Tools | Options.
- Switch to the General tab, and click E-mail
Options.
- Switch to the Personal Stationery tab.
- Click each of the Fonts buttons to set the font for new
and reply/forward messages.
The font choices are stored in Word's global Normal.dot template.
Make sure you answer Yes when you see a dialog asking whether
you want to keep changes made to that template.
To change the font used when you view a plain text message with
WordMail in Office 2000, follow the instructions below for Outlook
97 and Outlook 98. Also see:

I
believe these instructions should also work for Outlook
2000 if you have Word 97, not Word 2000, installed:
- Open your WordMail template (Email.dot, for example) directly
in Word.
- Choose Format | Styles.
- Change the font for the Normal style. This is used both for
new messages and added text when you reply to or forward a
message.
- Save the template
