| Obtain the
latest service pack / rollup for Exchange Server 5.0, dated
April 2004. Service Pack 2 for Exchange
Server 5.0 is available. See
KB
Article 168858 for a list of all Exchange 5.5 SP2 files
available from the Microsoft Download Center.
You should be able to find your language version from
there. Note that this update must be installed over
Exchange Server 5.0 or the Exchange Server 5.0 client. You
do not need to install Service Pack 1 before installing
Service Pack 2.
If you use Microsoft Outlook, SP2 includes a download
of Outlook 8.03. The SP2 download is a complete
version of Outlook. However, you must have a product ID to
install it.
Note that SP2 contains an important fix for the
Exchange Server's Clean Mailbox utility, to prevent it
from deleting Outlook items from the Calendar, Contacts,
Journal, Tasks and Notes folders.
If you are using Microsoft Backoffice Small Business
Server, the version on the Microsoft Exchange
Administrator program says 5.0 SP2. However, it's not the
same as this, more recent SP2. (Don't ask me why it says
SP2 if it isn't; I find it just as bewildering as everyone
else.) You can download and install the "real"
SP2 on your SBS system.
Since the service packs are for export, the
downloadable versions have only 40-bit encryption. |
