Regular features:
iPhone and the Case of the Disappearing Appointments
There seems to be a problem with iPhone syncing with Outlook
but it’s not the usual PDA sync complaint that users lose old
appointments in Outlook because the device deleted them.
Many of the new reports are that events created on the device
are only visible in a table view, not Day/Week/Month view. This
apparently happens because new appointments are entered into the
iPhone as recurring events. When you sync it creates a recurring
event in outlook that contains no data and this creates a
problem with the view. To fix, open the event on the iPhone and
change it to recurring daily then end the recurrence on the date
of the event before syncing.
There are also problems with syncing in general, usually caused
by a bad recurring event in Outlook or conflicts. If you can
find the bad item(s) or conflicts without deleting everything in
your calendar, congratulations. If not, you can fix some
problems by exporting the calendar to a CSV or Excel file,
delete all the events then import them from the CSV. However,
this is not a workable solution if you have meetings scheduled
on your calendar. You should also archive old calendar items,
leaving just 2008 in the calendar, if possible. You can either
use AutoArchive or create a second calendar folder and move all
old events into it.
My suggestion? If these suggestions don't work, wait for an
update from Apple. If you haven't upgraded to iTunes 7.7
software, wait a few days longer.
For a real "shot in the dark" try the following hotfix. It fixes
some issues with recurring events losing their recurring status
when a recurrence pattern is set but Outlook doesn't recognize
it until the recurrence dialog is opened. We don't know if it
will fix these problems, but anyone who wants to be a guinea pig
is welcome to try. Let me know if it helps. Since its Outlook
2003 only, I don't have high expectations that it will help.

Outlook 2007 Print Preview Bug
As I've mentioned before, printing in Outlook 2007 leaves a
lot to be desired. It won't print page one of a message, subject
lines in Calendar month view don't wrap and the font scales to a
very small, unreadable size, the small thumbnail calendars are
for this month and next, not last month and next month are just
three of many complaints,
The problem: When you use Print Preview, the screen doesn't
always redraw immediately, leaving a big white blob on the
screen. The bug occurs when you open the Page Setup dialog and
close it using the Ok button but don't print the item you are
previewing. When you Cancel the Page Setup dialog or print the
page and the screen redraws correctly. It's only when you view
the Page Setup dialog and click OK then Close print preview that
the screen doesn't redraw. Minimize then restore Outlook to
clean up the window.
To see it in action:
- Select File, Print Preview.
- Click Page Setup then click OK to close the dialog.
- Close Print Preview.
- Minimize then Restore Outlook to redraw the screen.
Email Printing Order Bug?
Anyone who prints a lot of messages has probably noticed that
Outlook appears to have no rhyme or reason in the order it
prints out the messages. Outlook may print items in sequential
order one time then print everything out of order the next time.
This occurs because of the way Outlook handles HTML formatted
messages and attachments. It renders the HTML in memory while
content is fetched from the Internet. While the rendering
process is working in memory, waiting on external content to
download, Outlook moves on to the next item which may print
before the HTML message or attachment.
It's not really a bug in my book and if it annoys you, print
utilities such as Auto-Print, will print in the correct order.

Print Utilities for Outlook
Users who need to print messages or calendars will often have
better results using printing add-ins, many of which will work
with any version of Outlook. Many of the add-ins automate
printing, replace broken print features and offer capabilities
not in Outlook.
