Greetings! Welcome to the issue #3 of Exchange Center Update, a newsletter about Microsoft Exchange, both for users of Windows 95 and for organizations using Exchange Server.
What with the Windows Messaging release and the move of my web site, I haven't gathered a lot of new material, but I think you'll at least find food for thought here.
Today's highlights:
Windows Messaging FAQ
A few weeks ago, Microsoft released a complete update for the version of Exchange that ships with Windows 95. With the help of many of you, we've nailed down the most obvious of the bugs and can offer advice on whether you should get this update and steps to take both before and after installation. This information is contained in an FAQ at the Exchange Center web site as http://www.slipstick.com/exchange/msgfaq.htm.
Exchange Server Client FAQ
The release of the Windows Messaging update has raised even more questions about the Exchange version available at http://www.ms-exchange.com (no longer available as of 9/97, but see FAQ for new site). This is the full Exchange Server client, with some very useful functions even for standalone users. To try to help you decide whether to get it, I've added an FAQ based on some of the questions that have come up in the newsgroups. The FAQ is available as http://www.slipstick.com/exchange/exsfaq.htm.
Exchange Center Wish List
I haven't managed to put this on the web site yet, but here's an interesting list of items that people wish were available for Exchange. These apply to all versions of Exchange, except where noted.
If you have a way of accomplishing these tasks, drop me a line at mailto:sue@slipstick.com, and I'll include your method in the next edition. Let me know whether or not you want your name and/or e-mail address published.
If you are a third-party developer, this list ought to give you some ideas!
New URL for Exchange Center
Change your shortcuts and bookmarks! The Exchange Center has moved to http://www.slipstick.com/exchange. (And you may have noticed that I'm now sue@slipstick.com.)
One of the new features of this site is an update robot. You can request to have an e-mail notice sent to you every time the site is updated. This means that you'll know about changes to the FAQs and new widgets I've found within a day or two.
Another feature that I'm considering adding is a set of e-mail autoresponders to send out the FAQs in response to e-mail messages. Please drop me a line if this would be helpful to you.
