Error: BCM can't be installed

Problem: Unable to install Office Professional 2007 Disk 2 – Business Contact Manager on Windows 7. Error states that SQL Server Express has a compatibility problem.

You'll need to install updates for SQL express for it to work in win7. See Compatibility message when installing BCM2007 on Windows7.aspx for the steps.

Problem: you attempt to install BCM and receive a vague error message at the end of the BCM install that stated that BCM could not be installed but the logfile shows it was installed successfully.

This is caused by a previously installed SQL program that did not completely uninstall. You’ll need to identify the offending program and remove the leftover bits yourself, including registry entries.

Among the programs that can cause this error is ACT 7.
