| From Exchange
Center Update reader Bob Trask comes this problem with
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. Apparently, it always
looks in the original Windows 95 folder for Microsoft
Exchange, even if you have Windows Messaging or the
Exchange Server client installed in a different folder. As
a result, when you choose Go, Read Mail, you'll get the
error "Cannot Find
C:\Progra~1\Micros~1\Exchng32.exe"
To fix this, you must edit the Windows 95 registry. Be
sure to make a backup copy first. If you don't know how or
you haven't worked with the registry before, click Start,
Help and search for registry to get all the details..
Here's the procedure for fixing the problem:
- Start Regedit.exe, and find this location in the
Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\mail\Exchange\shell\open\command
- Change the command path to point to the new location
of the Exchng32.exe file using "8.3" format
file names: For Windows Messaging, the path is
probably probably C:\Progra~1\Window~1\Exchng32.exe;
or for the Exchange Server version, probably
C:\Exchange\Exchng32.exe. The full command that you
need to enter for the shell open command might look
something like this:
C:\Progra~1\Window~1\exchng32.exe /i
You may need to restart Windows to make the change take
effect. |
