| It's highly recommended that you
upgrade to a newer version of Exchange as Exchange 5.0 is no longer
supported. If you need Exchange 5.0 SP1, you'll need to locate a
copy of it on an old MSDN CD as Microsoft no longer supports it and
discontinued their FTP site. The
latest service pack / rollup for Exchange Server 5.0 is
dated April 2004. Service Pack 1 for Exchange Server 5.0
is available.
Note that this is a "delta" update and must be
installed over Exchange Server 5.0, the Exchange Server
5.0 client, or Outlook 8.01 (included with Exchange Server
5.0).
If you use Microsoft Outlook, you can use SP1 to update
Outlook 8.01 to version
8.02. You cannot use this service pack to upgrade the
retail version of Microsoft Office to Outlook 8.02. Also
note that, while the Office 97 Service Release 1 updates
Outlook 8.0 to Outlook 8.02, the downloadable patch does
not include the enhancements for Exchange Server 5.0 that
are part of Outlook 8.01.
Note that since the service packs are for export, the
downloadable versions have only 40-bit encryption. |
