The quoting
settings in the Internet
Mail Enhancement Patch for Microsoft Outlook 97 do not
apply to WordMail (the use of Microsoft Word as the e-mail
editor in Outlook). Instead, you can use the E-mail Quoted
WordMail Template, a Microsoft Word 97 template that
includes a macro for adding a ">" in front of
text to follow the Internet convention for quoting from
incoming messages.
The line length settings in the IMEP patch do apply to
messages composed with WordMail.

Download the Olquote.zip
file (6kb), then unzip it and open E-mail Quoted.dot
in your Office or Outlook templates folder.
In Outlook, choose Tools | Options.
On the E-mail tab, select Use Microsoft Word
as the e-mail editor.
Click Template, and choose E-mail
Quoted.dot as your e-mail template.
Usage
When
you reply to a message, it will open in the new template.
Press ALT+F8 and run the
MakeTextQuoted macro to put a ">" character
in front of the text of the message you're replying to. Or
you can click the button that's added to the Formatting
toolbar. It looks like a speech bubble with a
">" under it.
