Note: As off July 2009, Outlook 2000 is "out of support". This page is no longer maintained and is kept for reference only. Links on it may no longer work.
Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) updates Microsoft Outlook 2000
with the latest fixes and establishes a new baseline for all future
hotfixes for Outlook 2000. Users who avoided SP2 because of its
inclusion of the Outlook
E-mail Security Update may want to consider SP3, which provides a registry setting to
unblock certain attachment file
types that Microsoft considers dangerous. SP3 is still subject
to the "object model guard," which may inhibit the operation of
programs that make use of Outlook data and try to send Outlook
messages.
Other important points:
You must install Office 2000 SR-1/1a
before installing the SP3 client update. (This does not apply to
the administrative update.) You do not, however, need to install
SP2 before SP3; SP3 contains all the fixes in SP2.
If you installed Outlook or Office 2000 from CD, you must have
access to your Office 2000 or Outlook 2000 CD (whichever you
installed) when you install SP3. See
OFF2000: Why Office 2000 SR-1 Update Requires the Office
CDs for a detailed explanation that also applies to SP3.If you installed Outlook or Office 2000 from a network
installation point, do not apply SP3 unless your administrator
tells you to do so. The administrator will need to apply a
special version of SP3 to update the network installation.
